Our Students:
Applications will be sent out in the spring to 1st-5th grade students at Harrison Park School. Students will be selected by the PDX Summer School board based on
need and availability. Participation for the 2012 program will be increased from 32 to 60 students!
The Teachers of PDX Summer School:
- We will hire 5 teachers for the 2012 program.
- All of our teachers are certified by the State of Oregon and the Teacher Standards and Practices Commission. They have gone through the necessary background checks by the State of Oregon and Portland Public Schools.
- Our teachers have the resources and ability to counter the academic challenges facing low income and ELL students.
- They are dedicated to achieving the common goal of improving each student’s ability to meet grade level proficiency standards.
Our Individualized Instruction:
- Uses research-based strategies to deliver instruction.
- Delivers appropriate pre and post assessments in all content areas.
- Delivers specifically targeted instruction for each student tailored to their learning needs.
We also strive to provide books for each of our students. This will promote literacy, vocabulary, and help close the achievement gap of all PDX Summer School students.
